No ICE Curling Rent Relief Fundraiser set for Feb. 28
The No ICE Curling Rent Relief Fundraiser will bring indoor curling to Minneapolis on Feb. 28, raising funds for neighborhood rent relief through Diamond Lake Lutheran Church.

A unique indoor curling fundraiser is bringing sport and community support together later this month at Fowling Warehouse Minneapolis.
The (No ICE) Curling Rent Relief Fundraiser, organized by Curling Connections, will take place Saturday, February 28 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. The pop-up event allows participants to learn and play curling on mobile, iceless rinks while raising funds for Minneapolis residents impacted by Operation Metro Surge.
All proceeds will go directly to Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, which is collecting and distributing rent relief funds to neighbors experiencing financial strain. The church is serving as the nonprofit partner to ensure funds are processed and distributed through an established charitable organization.
Three Ways to Support
Organizers say there are multiple ways for the community to participate:
Play
Register as a curler for a two-hour session that includes instruction, practice, gameplay, and broomstacking. Suggested donation is $25 per person.
Spectate
Attend as a fan for a suggested $10 donation and enjoy the event atmosphere.
Donate
Contribute directly to the Neighborhood Rent Relief fund through Diamond Lake Lutheran Church for those unable to attend or who wish to give additional support.

What Makes It Unique

The fundraiser features real curling stones that move and curl like those seen in Olympic competition. However, there is no ice, no cold temperatures, and no running or sweeping required.
Participants can curl from a standing or crouched position, making the activity accessible for all ages and abilities. Adults and children can play together, and teams of four will be assembled on-site.
Each session includes:
- 30 minutes of instruction followed by gameplay
- Coaching from local curlers
- Raffle prizes
- โAsk a Curlerโ opportunities
Two raffle prize packages will be offered:
- An iceless curling event for 16 people
- An on-ice curling event for 8 people
Winners do not need to be present to win. Raffle tickets are $5 for one or three for $10.
Additional Activities
Elm Creek Brewing will offer beer sampling from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Olympic curling coverage will also be shown on big screens throughout the venue.
Why It Matters
Organizers say the event combines an accessible, family-friendly experience with tangible local impact. Funds raised will help Minneapolis residents cover rent during a time of increased financial strain, supporting housing stability in the community.
