Overview:
Quinlan Room by Dakota will bring a new performance and event space to downtown Minneapolis, expanding Dakotaโs presence and activating the historic Young-Quinlan Building.

A new performance and private event venue is coming to downtown Minneapolis as Dakota announces the opening of The Quinlan Room by Dakota inside the historic Young-Quinlan Building.
The expansion marks a major milestone for Dakota, a nationally recognized venue known for pairing live music with chef-driven dining, as it grows its footprint in the heart of Nicollet Mall.
A new chapter in a historic space
The Quinlan Room will take over the former JB Hudson space, most recently home to the Chameleon Consortiumโs Chameleon Shops program. The addition builds on Dakotaโs continued growth as it celebrates more than 40 years as a cornerstone of Minnesotaโs arts and culture scene.
The Young-Quinlan Building, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary later this year, remains one of downtown Minneapolisโ most iconic landmarks.
Dakota founder and co-owner Lowell Pickett said the new space responds to increasing demand for private events and expanded programming.
The venue will allow Dakota to host a wider range of performances and gatherings while maintaining the level of hospitality and production the venue is known for.
Designed for performances and private events
At nearly 10,000 square feet, The Quinlan Room will feature a marble grand staircase, mezzanine, arched windows and a layout designed to accommodate a variety of events.

The flexible space is expected to host musical performances, weddings, corporate events and private gatherings, with capacity ranging from 50 to 300 guests.
Leaders say the partnership between Dakota and the Young-Quinlan Building reflects a shared commitment to preserving historic spaces while activating them with new cultural experiences.
Opening later this spring
Dakota officially took over the space on March 1 and plans to open The Quinlan Room later this spring. Additional details, including an official opening date and inaugural programming, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The expansion adds to the continued revitalization of Nicollet Mall and reinforces Dakotaโs role as a central gathering place where music, food and culture intersect in downtown Minneapolis.
