Humphrey School Honors Dr. Reatha Clark King and Dr. Josie R. Johnson During Women's History Month

The Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota honored Dr. Reatha Clark King and Dr. Josie R. Johnson on March 23, 2026, bringing together friends, colleagues, students and community partners to celebrate two extraordinary legacies of civic leadership and public service.

The Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota honored two extraordinary leaders during a special gathering on Monday, March 23, 2026, in celebration of Women’s History Month.

The afternoon event, held from 4 to 6 p.m., brought together friends, colleagues, students, alumni, and community partners to celebrate the enduring legacies of Dr. Reatha Clark King and Dr. Josie R. Johnson. The gathering took place in the Dr. Josie Robinson Johnson Community Room for Social Justice, a space named in recognition of Dr. Johnson’s lifelong commitment to civil rights and public leadership.

Dean Nisha Botchwey hosted the event, which centered on conversation, reflection, and celebration of two women whose lives and work have helped shape Minnesota, the University of Minnesota, and generations of public leadership.

Dr. Reatha Clark King and Dr. Josie R. Johnson each bring remarkable legacies of civic leadership, education, and service to the public good. Both have longstanding ties to the Humphrey School and to the broader University community, and their leadership continues to inspire students, alumni, and colleagues across Minnesota and beyond.

Together, their contributions represent generations of courage, vision, and public service that remain deeply felt in communities across the state and the nation.
