Hoop Habits Expands With Second Elite Training Facility in Minnetonka

Former professional basketball player Anthony Tucker is expanding his vision for elite athlete development with the opening of a second Hoop Habits facility in Minnetonka later this spring. The new 41,000-square-foot training center will significantly increase the organizationโ€™s capacity, offering four full courts and expanded programming focused on skill development, education, and long-term athlete growth. Leaders say the expansion strengthens Minnesotaโ€™s basketball pipeline while keeping top talent developing at home.

Former professional basketball player Anthony Tucker is expanding his vision for elite basketball development in Minnesota with the announcement of a second Hoop Habits training facility set to open later this spring in Minnetonka.

Founded in 2024, Hoop Habits has quickly become a central hub for high-level basketball instruction in the Twin Cities. The new facility represents a significant step forward in the organizationโ€™s mission to strengthen the pipeline for Minnesotaโ€™s top basketball talent.

The Minnetonka location will span 41,000 square feet and feature four full basketball courts, along with dedicated space for performance training, recovery, and athlete education. It will operate alongside Hoop Habitsโ€™ original 6,500-square-foot training site in Edina, allowing the organization to dramatically expand its programming and capacity.

Tucker, a Minnesota native who played professional basketball internationally across nine countries, launched Hoop Habits after recognizing gaps in traditional basketball development systems.

According to Tucker, the organization was built on the belief that athletes benefit most when taught by coaches who have competed at the highest levels. Hoop Habitsโ€™ training staff is composed exclusively of former elite and professional players, an approach designed to elevate both skill development and basketball IQ.

Since its launch, Hoop Habits has grown rapidly. Over the past two years, the organization has trained hundreds of athletes through training memberships, the Hoop Habits Academy, Elite AAU programs for boys and girls, clinics, and camps. Membership has increased nearly 80 percent in the past 10 months, with demand consistently exceeding available space at the Edina facility.

The expansion will allow Hoop Habits to run multiple courts simultaneously and create more intentional development environments for athletes at different stages. The Minnetonka site will also support a broader focus on holistic athlete development, including financial literacy education, recruiting guidance, NIL education, orthopedic services, sports performance training, and college preparation.

Hoop Habits has worked with several high-profile Minnesota basketball players, including Tyus Jones, Tre Jones, Jamison Battle, and Jackson McAndrew, Minnesotaโ€™s 2024 Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year. The program also trains emerging prospects such as Presley Watkins, currently ranked No. 2 in Minnesotaโ€™s Class of 2027, along with top-10 classmates Gavin Walter and Luke Schroeder.

In addition to its physical expansion, Hoop Habits recently launched the Hoop Habits Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization created to reduce financial barriers for athletes and families. The foundation supports access to training, competition opportunities, and resources across the youth basketball landscape.

With its second facility on the way, Hoop Habits continues to position itself as a cornerstone of basketball development in Minnesota, blending elite training with education, access, and long-term athlete growth both on and off the court.
