On Friday, March 28, 2026, Minnesotans gathered at the State Capitol in St. Paul as part of the nationwide No Kings day of action, joining millions of people across the country who took to the streets with one unified message: power belongs to the people.

The rally, which began at 2 p.m. CDT, was one of hundreds of events held across the country in response to what organizers describe as an escalating threat to democracy, civil rights, voting rights, and the freedoms communities have long fought to protect. A national livestream connected participants from coast to coast as the movement made its voice heard.

The No Kings movement speaks directly to concerns that have been building across communities of color and working families, including the use of masked federal agents in neighborhoods, attacks on civil liberties, the erosion of voting rights, and economic pressures pushing families to the edge. Organizers framed the moment plainly: this is America, and no one person, no billionaire, and no administration gets to rule over the people as a king.

The March 28 rally was a powerful showing, but organizers are clear that one day of action is not the end. The movement is calling on participants to keep the momentum going with a series of next steps, including a What’s Next Mass Call, local organizing meetings being hosted through April 12, and a continued mobilization building toward May Day.
