Building a brand with roots and purpose
After years in public service and even a run for political office, Pittman shifted her focus to what she calls her “purpose work.” She founded Nature’s Syrup, a plant-based beauty brand designed to support textured hair and celebrate cultural identity. The company quickly gained a following for its authentic mission, bold voice, and effective products. Nature’s Syrup now offers a full line of hair and skin care essentials crafted to serve both beauty and well-being.
“I knew I had to do something that nourished not just hair, but confidence,” Pittman shares during the conversation. “Nature’s Syrup is about showing up in the world as your whole self—unapologetically.”
Beyond the bottle: Curls, culture and community
Pittman also launched the Curls & Culture Lounge, a luxury beauty and wellness space that centers Black women and self-care. There, she continues to curate space for connection and healing through culture-forward events and community engagement.
Named the SBA’s 2024 Women in Business Champion of the Year, Pittman uses her growing platform to uplift other women founders. Her latest book, The Beauty Brand Playbook, is a roadmap for aspiring entrepreneurs to build sustainable brands grounded in purpose and profitability.
