Taxpayers to benefit from IRS program

The IRS has announced that its Direct File program will become a permanent option for federal tax returns starting in the 2025 tax season.

The Internal Revenue Service says bad actors are using the mail delivery system to prey on people by telling them they’re owed a refund.

A recent study estimated that Black taxpayers are audited at three to five times the rate of non-Black taxpayers.
