INDIANAPOLIS, IN — UConn isn’t the only unbeaten team here in Indy. The Huskies go into Tuesday’s finals as the last team still playing with a zero in the loss column.
Lubbock Christian (Division II) and Thomas More (Division III) also came to town over the weekend with unblemished records. Both squads left Monday still unbeaten as well as this year’s champs in their respective divisions.
Lubbock Christian finished at 35-0 after they held off a scrappy Alaska Anchorage club 78-73 Monday in the first-ever Division II title game played at the same site as the DI Final Four. UAA finished 38-3.
In the nightcap, Thomas More closed its Division III season 33-0 after defeating Tufts 63-51. The runners-up finished 28-4.
It also was our first-ever covering the two finals in person, a fitting prelude to Tuesday’s Division I title game: Syracuse vs. Connecticut at 8:30 pm Eastern time.
Look for our final post-game March Madness dispatch afterwards.
