When the Great South Athletic Conference announced its 2011 women’s basketball All-Conference and All-Freshman awards, Spelman guard/forward Amanda Alexander (Edina, MN, daughter of retired Judge Pamela Alexander) was named to the All-Freshman Team.
As a freshman, Alexander appeared in 23 of the Jaguars’ 25 contests. She averaged 9.4 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, placing her fourth and third on the team in those categories, respectively.
In just the third game of her career, Alexander posted a season-high 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting and 11-14 at the free throw line against conference foe Piedmont College.
“Amanda has been a wonderful addition to our team, and I am excited about having her around for the next three years,” said Jaguars Head Coach Lavon Mercer.
