Many African Americans use abuse to express love
Many of you are aware of the television show Love and Hip Hop Atlanta on VH1. It ended in a dramatic fashion, as usual. However, what stood out the most from the show was abuse.
It came from all angles, both the men and women. One character that stood out the most was Stevie J. He represents a prototype of a man that is all too common in the Black community. Let’s take a look at the behaviors Stevie J presents throughout the show.
He goes back and forth between two women (that we know of), continuously lying, being sneaky, impregnating a woman, and all the usual cheating behavior, right? However, his main woman (Mimi) decides to stay with him.
Why does she stay while he continues to behave in this manner? Also, would you consider that abuse?
