On November 9, the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL) Foundation will once again host its annual Scholarship Gala. Each year the Scholarship Gala raises money to provide educational scholarships to deserving law school students of color from the four area law schools in the Twin Cities. We invite you to join the MABL Foundation as we recognize this year’s scholarship recipients and honor and recognize community leaders who have helped to advance the mission of MABL.
This year’s special guest and keynote speaker is the Honorable Joe Brown. Judge Brown is the nontraditional, no-nonsense, no-holds-barred presiding judge of the syndicated reality courtroom show Judge Joe Brown.
Prior to Judge Joe Brown, Brown served as a judge of the Shelby County Criminal Court in Memphis, Tennessee and was the first Black prosecutor in the city of Memphis. MABL is excited to welcome Judge Joe Brown to the Twin Cities.
The Scholarship Gala will be held at the Marriott Hotel City Center, 30 South 7th Street, Minneapolis. Doors open at 6 pm for a cocktail reception followed by dinner and program at 7 pm. Law firm, corporate, and individual sponsorship opportunities are still available at the underwriter ($3,000), benefactor ($2,000), and supporter ($100) levels.
MABL’s mission is to promote and support the professional development of Black judges, lawyers, and law students in Minnesota, and represent the interests of the Black community in the legal profession and in the judicial system throughout the state. Founded in 1998, the MABL Foundation annually selects talented law students from the four local law schools in the Twin Cities to receive scholarships to support furtherance of their legal education.
