This month, the Minnesota Spokesman Recorder (MSR) celebrates 80 years of continuous publication. The MSR is the oldest Black business in the state of Minnesota and one of the oldest Black newspapers in the Midwest.
The MSR building, located at 3744 4th Avenue South in Minneapolis, has received historic designation in the city of Minneapolis by the Historic Preservation Commission. On Saturday, August 23, it was among several stops made by the Major Taylor Bicycling Club’s Second Annual Dark 2 Dawn: A Ride through African American History (see photo of participants below).
