
On December 4, 2014, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito presented Reverend Richard L. Jenkins, Sr. and Mrs. Vivian Jenkins Nelsen with the President’s Lifetime Volunteer Call to Service Award. This award is a national honor in recognition of over 20,000 hours each of volunteer service to America.
Established in 2003, the award is available on an annual basis to individuals, groups and families who have met or exceeded requirements for volunteer service and have demonstrated exemplary citizenship through volunteering.
Vietnam veteran Richard Jenkins and Vivian Jenkins Nelsen were recognized for their volunteer work throughout Minnesota. They have honored and paid special tribute to the citizens in the communities they serve and have dedicated their time to service members and veterans throughout Minnesota.
