PHOTOS: Rise Up and #ShutItDown rally in Minneapolis

Over 2,000 people turned out for the “Rise Up and #ShutItDown with Baltimore” rally Wednesday, April 29, organized by Black Lives Matter Minneapolis. The rally was a show of solidarity with the protesters in Baltimore, Maryland over the death of Freddie Gray, and other high-profile cases of unarmed Black men who were killed by the police in recent months.

The event began in Gold Medal Park, where a few speakers addressed the crowd before marching to the Washington Avenue bridge where they shut down traffic. Demonstrators then marched to Honey night club where Neighborhoods Organizing for Change held a fundraiser to raise money to build a new office to replace the other one which was lost to a fire two weeks ago.
