As part of our celebration over the next several months of 80 years of continuous publication, the MSR will be republishing notable stories and photos from our extensive archives of more than 4,000 weekly issues of African American news in Minnesota. Many of our readers will surely recognize friends, family and neighbors from the distant and not-so-distant past — such as one or more of the “tots” pictured below, featured in the August 3, 1951 issue of the Minneapolis Spokesman.
Tots Help Rosella Celebrate Birthday
The little lady third from the right seated on the divan is Rosella Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reed, who early in July, on July 7, to be exact was honored with a party on her third birthday. The party was held at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Irene Lewis, at 752 Carrol Ave., St. Paul. In the above photo some will recognize Donald Doty, Kenneth Lewis, Marvin Ray, Carolyn Lewis, David Howard, Roxanne Price, Anita Price, Jeffrey Reed and Linda Price.
