As part of the U.S. Agency for International Development Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA), the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) informs donors about the most effective ways to support international disaster relief. CIDI provides resources and gives donors the information they need to effectively help people affected by disasters overseas.
CIDI also partners with relief agencies as they work to provide essential relief to disaster survivors, effectively, economically and quickly.
On April 25, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, impacting more than 6.6 million people in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. CIDI encourages donors interested in participating in relief efforts to give with Smart Compassion.
Smart Compassion means donating in a way that harnesses good intentions and the desire to help, with the most powerful, positive impact possible. After decades of experience with donors, donations and disaster relief, CIDI knows that monetary contributions to reliable relief agencies give the best support to people affected by disasters, including earthquakes.
