Victor Lee Propes passed away August 14, 2015 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 76. A memorial service, with military honors, was held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 5, at Henderson’s Funeral Chapel in Iowa, located at 3500 6th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313.
In addition, a tribute to Victor Propes was held at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, September 9 at Scratch Bar and Grill, 408 3rd Avenue North, in downtown Minneapolis’ warehouse district.
Victor was a civil rights advocate, mentor, and educator. He is survived by his children, Pashell (Arthur) Johnson, Tarik and Hakim Propes; his grandchildren, Zachary Jeremy, Jacob, Najia, Amire, Mariah, Elijah and Malik; his sisters, Arthurlene Dixon, Paula and Lesha Propes; his former wife Beverly Galloway-Propes and a host of extended family and friends.
