City of Brooklyn Center hires former Brooklyn Center High School student as new fire chief

Mr. Jeremy Hulke, will begin serving as the new Chief of the Brooklyn Center Fire Department on Monday, July 18th.  He will be replacing retired Fire Chief Lee Gatlin Jr. and Interim Fire Chief Gary Hendrickson.  Mr. Hulke has served as a Brooklyn Center Fire Fighter for over 18 years including several years in leadership as Fire Captain and District Fire Chief.  He has an educational background in fire science, firefighting, emergency medical technician, emergency management, and law enforcement.  Mr. Hulke will be leaving the City of Minneapolis Police Department after 14 years of service as a police officer.  During his tenure as a police officer he worked in the areas of management support to information technology, the crisis intervention team, emergency vehicle operations training, and earned the distinguished Medal of Valor for actions taken at the 35W Bridge Collapse. Mr. Hulke will bring knowledge, experience, and passion to the position of Fire Chief and to the service of citizens of Brooklyn Center.
