UPDATED | Prince tribute concert planned for Oct. 13 at Xcel Energy Center

UPDATE: More details were released today about what is being billed as “The Official Prince Tribute Concert” planned by his estate.  According to the press release, Stevie Wonder will headline an all-star line up that includes “Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal, Mint Condition along with Prince’s inner circle, Morris Day & The Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield. The New Power Generation (NPG) led by Morris Hayes, along with and members of 3RDEYEGIRL, will perform all songs. ”

In July, the family released a statement to The Associated Press announcing a tribute concert for the late Minneapolis-born music icon at the U.S. Bank Stadium. The location has since been changed to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Prince died at age 57 at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen near his native Minneapolis, on April 21. The official autopsy report listed an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl as the cause of death.

  1. Brokers bought all the $20 tickets and are now selling them for $100. Ticketmaster said there would be a 6 tickets minimum. They lie. Regular folks didn’t have a prayer getting a tickets less than $111. This is awful. Make some noise people! Protest this crap! If Ticketmaster can’t stop the brokers, start a company that can. Start a company that rivals Ticketmaster (like uber did for the cab company). There’s your billion dollar business idea!

  2. There are no more $20 tickets, because Brokers bought them all and are now selling them for $100 or more. Here’s a business idea: start a company that rivals Ticketmasters. They said it would be a 6 ticket purchase limit, They lied. If they can’t stop the brokers, start a company that can. There’s your billion dollars business idea. I would invest in that start-up.
