Boutique specializes in unique plus-sized looks

Fashionable plus-sized women’s clothing at a reasonable price can sometimes be hard to find. But according to Teresa Brown-Rogers, owner of Simply Fabulous One Boutique, her women’s clothing and accessories store has the answers to help solve this puzzle.
Located at 1011 West Broadway since January 2016, the boutique specializes in selling sizes small to 3X. Serving mainly the age 20-50 demographic, Simply Fabulous has been in business for five years.
The business was originally at another location on 42nd and West Broadway in Robbinsdale. When she closed her first location, Brown-Rogers went online. Her web location remains http://simplyfabulousone.tictail.com.
Asked why she runs a women’s clothing boutique, Rogers said, “I like to see women look their best, and I like to see women feel good from the inside out. So I am gearing most of my clothing toward plus-sized women who usually have a hard time finding fashionable clothing in their sizes.”
Brown-Rogers has “always been into fashion,” she recalled. “I have been a very creative person all around. I went to school for interior design with a minor in event planning at Century College. But when I graduated, my mind immediately shifted to selling women’s clothing.”
Casual fashions to more dressy fashions are what you will find in her boutique, including nightclub wear and business attire. On entering the doors of Simply Fabulous One Boutique, said Brown-Rogers, customers will find that “my prices are reasonable here. That was [also] part of the reason that I got into business. I got tired of seeing people walking around dressing the same, looking the same, and paying outrageous prices to look like each other.
“So I tried to do a different look, a unique look and not the same look for everybody,” she continued. “I tried to make it a point to put on fashion shows where…whatever you see walking down my [runway] in a size five, I can also put you in it in a 1X, 2 or 3X.
“Not every plus-size one will be able to do that, but I have managed to have the same or similar looks for a plus-sized or curvy woman. So they do not have that complaint that only skinny woman can wear this.”
During the November Sister Spokesman event, Brown-Rogers was on the panel at the Small Business Showcase and Extravaganza.” The boutique presented a fashion show on September 24 that Brown-Rogers described as “empowering.”
She explained, “We did a few makeovers on women who were struggling with issues of low self-esteem. So, I donated an empowerment package to two women. I presented them with the clothes they were wearing in the fashion show, and I gave them a gift certificate to come back and shop in my store.
“The organization Dress for Success gave the women a voucher to come shop with them, and I also gave them cash,” she explained. “The women were able to talk about their struggles and tell where they came from.”
For clothing that caters to women of all sizes of women and is reasonably priced, visit the Simply Fabulous One Boutique. Brown-Rogers says “I would love to serve you.”
