During a visit to Chicago last month I decided to take in an NCAA Division l basketball game between the University of Illinois Chicago and Bradley University. Attending the game as a member of the media, I found a few Minnesota connections worth noting:
Taylor Toney: The former DeLaSalle guard starts as a sophomore for the University of Chicago and is currently their second leading scorer, averaging 10 points per game.

Catera Etheridge: The former Champlain Park standout has started five games at guard for the Flames as a sophomore.

Regina Miller: The UIC head coach led women’s basketball teams at Western Illinois and UNLV — where she routinely recruited players from the Twin Cities — before coming to lead the Flames.
Cara Pearson: The former St. Paul Harding and University of Minnesota standout serves as an assistant for the UIC.
Paul Fessler: The longtime women’s basketball coach at Concordia University-St. Paul is in his first year as an assistant at Bradley.
The game, played at UIC Pavillion, resulted in a 65-56 victory for Bradley, led by Leti Lerma’s 19 points and 11 rebounds. Brittany Bryd led UIC with 16 points.
It was good to see some of Minnesota’s finest at the prep and coaching levels.
