2016 scholarship winners from the Metro area

This year, C.O.P.E’s 12th Annual Scholarship Program/Gala and Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Airport Hilton Hotel-Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota from 4 to 7:30 pm.

The Gala includes a silent auction, dinner, and a presentation by Miss Ayana Imari Anderson, a C.O.P.E Scholar. Also, the guest speakers for the evening will be Dr. Edward Mairura, an Orthopedic Surgeon from Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Monica Lewis Miller from Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi

The Gala is the annual scholarship celebration where the proceeds will fund scholarships for the 2017 fall semester. C.O.P.E will recognize students in several categories to include awards for ACT/SAT Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Volunteer Community Service, Highest GPA, and Participation. Additionally, the event will recognize COPE’s Family of the Year and other community leaders who are strong advocates and supporters of the organization.

The Scholars of Minnesota-C.O.P.E Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to assist underrepresented students in obtaining educational opportunities, financial support, and other resources necessary to reach their highest academic, professional, and personal goals. Due to the community’s support last year (2016), 30 students received scholarships for the fall semester. Furthermore, several youth were awarded laptops and iPads to use while attending college.

If you would like more information about the annual event, including ticket prices, feel free to call the office at (651) 260-0039. To contribute to the scholarship fund, you may send a check or money order payable to: Scholars of Minnesota-COPE, Post Office Box 21081, Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55121-0081. You may also make a donation through PayPal at the COPE website: www.scholarsofminnesota.com
