‘Fab Five’ prep stars of the week

This week’s “Fab Five” photos feature five former metro area boys’ basketball players who played well this season in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), one of the top Division III leagues in the country. They include a former Mr. Basketball finalist who played in the MIAC tournament title game (Riley Dearring), a former all-conference performer who led his team to national ranking (Jubie Alade), a state champion who led his team to the MIAC championship (Harry Sonie), a former all-conference player who helped his team qualify for the MIAC tournament (Quinn Johnson), and another former state champion who helped his team reach the MIAC championship game (Bridgeport Tusler).

Senior guard Riley Dearring (Minnetonka), a Mr. Basketball finalist as a senior in 2013, averaged 11 points per game for Bethel. He played two years at Wisconsin and transferred to California State-Fullerton before coming to Bethel. Dr. Mitchell McDonald/MSR News

Senior guard Bridgeport Tusler (Osseo) averaged nine points a game as a point guard for Bethel University. He led his team to the Class 4A boys’ basketball championship as a junior in 2012. He transferred to Bethel from South Dakota State University. Dr. Mitchell McDonald/MSR News
