The late, legendary Prince will receive another posthumous honor: a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to Prince’s passing, the U of M had planned to present the iconic entertainer with the honorary degree in recognition of his extraordinary talent and influence, as well as his role in shaping the music and cultural landscape of Minneapolis.
As a tribute to the Purple One’s enduring legacy, students from the U of M’s School of Music, along with special guest artists, will perform Prince-related music at the event.
The ceremony takes place September 28, 7 pm, at Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 S. 4th Street, Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To RSVP, go to http://bit.ly/HonoringPrinceRSVP.
