Emilio Estevez will attend a screening and Q&A session about his new library-themed feature film, The Public on Sun., March 17, at Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.

Estevez (Mighty Ducks, Breakfast Club) directs and stars in the movie, which is about downtown Cincinnati librarians who had their “winter day shaken up when homeless patrons decide to take shelter in their library for the night.” A peaceful sit-in quickly escalates into a face-off with the police and the media.

Rounding out the cast are Jeffrey Wright, Gabrielle Union, Michael K. Williams, Taylor Schilling, Alec Baldwin, Ki Hong Lee, Christian Slater and a host of others.

Doors open at 1:15 pm. The screening is at 2 pm with a Q&A to follow. The event is open to the public, but seats are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

The film, which is being pre-screened at libraries across the U.S., will be distributed by Greenwich Entertainment and NBCUNiversal.
It opens in Twin Cities theaters on April 5.
