
Gopher men’s basketball team opened the season with a win. Point guard Marcus Carr led the way with 18 points and eight assists, while backcourt mate Payton Willis had 17 points and eight assists, and forward Daniel Oturu added 16 points along with 10 rebounds and five blocks.
Forward Alihan Demir scored 10 points and Gabe Kalscheur chipped in nine points to lead the University of Minnesota men’s basketball team to 85-50 opening season nonconference victory over Cleveland State University.
Guards Hugo Ferreira and Kasheem Thomas had 13 and eight points respectively for the Vikings. Cleveland State is led by first-year coach Dennis Gates.
