Update: Karl-Anthony Towns’ mother passes away due to complications of COVID-19

Last night, Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns shared on social media that his mother was recently admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with having contracted COVID-19.

In an emotional video, Towns explained that both of his parents went to the hospital after becoming ill. His father was released and is quarantined, while his mother was admitted to the hospital where her condition worsened to the point of being placed on a ventilator. “I talked with her before she went there, told her how much I love her,” said Towns, calling her the strongest person he knows.

Towns cautioned, “This disease needs not to be taken lightly. Please protect your family, your loved ones, your friends, yourself.”
