Five-year-old Skylar Herbert of Detroit died of COVID-19 on Sunday, one of the youngest victims of the disease in the U.S. The Michigan Health Department reported that Herbert is the youngest person in Michigan to die of the disease.

According to the Detroit News, Skylar tested positive for COVID-19 in March after complaining of a headache. Her mother is a Detroit police office and her a father a Detroit firefighter.

“She was the type of girl that would just run up to you and jump in your arms and hug you,” LaVondria Herbert said of her daughter in an interview. “It didn’t matter what she was doing—she would stop what she was doing and tell me she loved me like 20 times a day.”

“Skylar touched our hearts with her cheerful spirit and brightened our Sundays with her smile,” read a Facebook post by the Metropolitan Church of God where the family attended.
