Fresh off his much-viewed and talked about “face-off” with fellow legendary producer Teddy Riley, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds appeared on “The View” talk show to confirm that he would host a special Mother’s Day special on Instagram featuring music from the iconic “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack.
The upcoming concert came about organically, Babyface told the “The View” hosts. “There were so many people on Instagram Live that wanted to hear music from the “Waiting to Exhale” [soundtrack]” during his faceoff with Riley. “So, I thought this would be great [on] Mother’s Day, to play the ‘Waiting to Exhale’ album, tell stories, tell how it all happened and talk about the artists.”

The famed soundtrack featured an all-star lineup of female vocalists like Whitney Houston, one of the stars of the film and Mary J. Blige, who sang the classic “Not Gonna Cry” among hits by Toni Braxton, Faith Evans, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan and Brandy.
Though the kickoff to Babyface’s event with Riley was mired in technical problems, it ended up being a success with the two superstar producers showing off their considerable musical catalogs, much to the delight of the over 500k music lovers who tuned in.
