Before the verdict was read, community members had already started gathering at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in South Minneapolis where George Floyd lost his life under the knee of former police officer Chauvin on May 25, 2020.
As news that the jury had reached its verdict spread, the crowd at the memorial site where Floyd lost his life, now called George Floyd Square/Place/Plaza grew in size. The crowd erupted with tears and relief when it was announced that Chauvin was found guilty on all counts against him in the murder of Floyd.
