Nationally celebrated Olympians Suni Lee and Grace McCallum from St. Paul and Isanti, Minnesota, respectively, were greeted by almost 200 fans, friends, and well-wishers this afternoon upon returning from the Tokyo games.
Flanked by St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter and a dozen law enforcement officers from various jurisdictions, the two superstars looked a bit overwhelmed by the reporters and the frenzied crowd that continuously cheered, took pictures, and asked questions as they walked through the Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport.
Lee took home the gold in the women’s all-around individual performance, while McCallum won the silver in the women’s team competition.
Mayor Carter announced on Thursday that the city will host a parade for Lee on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm along White Bear Avenue in St. Paul.
