The running backs just keep on coming for the University of Minnesota football team as a couple of freshmen ground-gainers each topped the 100-yard rushing mark leading the Gophers (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) to a 36-16 Big Ten conference victory over the University of Maryland (4-3, 1-3 Big Ten) on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Huntington Bank Stadium.

Freshmen Ky Thomas (139 yards, 21 carries) and Mar’Keise Irving (105 yards, 15 carries) each scored a touchdown as the Gophers, who also got 48 yards rushing from fellow redshirt junior running back Bryce Williams, finished with 326 yards as a team.
