It was quite a historic day in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Macalester College defeated Hamline University 23-13 in not only the annual Paint Bucket football game, but the first MIAC contest in any sport to feature two Black head coaches on a cool Saturday evening October 30, 2021, at Macalester Stadium.
Coaches KiJuan Ware of Macalester and Chip Taylor of Hamline made history in leading their
teams.
Ware is a 1997 graduate of Springfield (Massachusetts) College, while Taylor earned his degree
from Illinois state in 2002.
Both starred in football while in college with Ware also playing baseball.
