The 2022 NFL Draft is set for April 28-30.
Bishop McDonald (Oakdale, Minn.) was one of 13 former Gophers who worked out on March 16 on “Pro Day” in front of pro scouts at the school’s football indoor facility. “It was nice,” said the 6’-0” defensive back. He had 10 total tackles, six solo, and a forced fumble in two Gopher seasons (2020, 2021).
Val Martin, who played three seasons at North Carolina State (2018-20) and then this past season at Minnesota, did his workout at his former school earlier this month. “Starting off with junior college, I worked my way up to play three years in the ACC and then one year in the Big Ten,” said Martin of his collegiate football playing—35 career tackles and a forced fumble.
“I feel like the college regimen…prepared me for this day. I went through a major transformation as far as changing my diet. I wanted to make sure that my body was in the condition, in the shape [for the pro scouts].”
Pro Days “is like a job interview,” said Minnesota Coach P.J. Fleck. “Every NFL team is represented here, and you’ve got to be able to perform to the standard that they want you to perform and do your best, and do it on this particular day.”
