The 2022 NFL Draft is set for April 28-30.

Bishop McDonald (Oakdale, Minn.) was one of 13 former Gophers who worked out on March 16 on โ€œPro Dayโ€ in front of pro scouts at the schoolโ€™s football indoor facility. โ€œIt was nice,โ€ said the 6โ€™-0โ€ defensive back. He had 10 total tackles, six solo, and a forced fumble in two Gopher seasons (2020, 2021).

Val Martin, who played three seasons at North Carolina State (2018-20) and then this past season at Minnesota, did his workout at his former school earlier this month. โ€œStarting off with junior college, I worked my way up to play three years in the ACC and then one year in the Big Ten,โ€ said Martin of his collegiate football playingโ€”35 career tackles and a forced fumble.

โ€œI feel like the college regimenโ€ฆprepared me for this day. I went through a major transformation as far as changing my diet. I wanted to make sure that my body was in the condition, in the shape [for the pro scouts].โ€

Pro Days โ€œis like a job interview,โ€ said Minnesota Coach P.J. Fleck. โ€œEvery NFL team is represented here, and youโ€™ve got to be able to perform to the standard that they want you to perform and do your best, and do it on this particular day.โ€

Next week Another View will take a look at NFL draft prospects.
