
With the rise in prices and continued supply chain issues this year, many Americans will be feeling the pinch. To meet the needs, many community organizations are stepping up to help families facing food insecurities this holiday season. See a few events and resources below.
The Salvation Army recently announced it was once again partnering with the Thielen Foundation and Hy-Vee to distribute 2000 Thanksgiving dinners. “Sixty percent of Minnesota families are living paycheck to paycheck, and 8% to 9% inflation makes it nearly impossible to make ends meet,” said Adam Thielen, foundation president, and professional wide receiver with the Minnesota Vikings.
“We want to thank JENNIE-O for supplying these turkeys, and we thank The Salvation Army for again helping to get them into the hands of families in need.”The first distribution of 100 turkeys will be at The Salvation Army’s Lakewood service center, located at 2080 Woodlynn Avenue in Maplewood, starting at 10:30 am.

Annual Community Violence Prevention Turkey Giveaway

Shiloh Cares Food Shelf will once again give away free turkeys on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will feature Public Safety Commissioner Dr. Cedric Alexander and offer free gun locks, Narcan kits, and other community violence intervention resources. Boss Lady Shoetique Turkey Giveaway for Single Mothers
Brittney Kline, the owner of Boss Lady Shoetique, is hosting a turkey giveaway for more than 50 single mothers. As a single mother, Kline believes offering a hand of hope to young single mothers could be the difference-maker in someone’s life.

Give a Gobble Thanksgiving Food Distribution

6th Annual Community Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving Community Dinner

Mounds View residents in need of a Thanksgiving bag, including a turkey or gift card, should call Ralph Reeder Food at 651-621-6280 to set up an appointment in the month of November. Mounds View families can also register children up to age 12 for toys and gifts by going to www.operationjoymn.org. Registration for toys ends Dec. 2.
