Snow emergencies issued in the Twin Cities

As expected, snow emergencies were issued in both Minneapolis and St. Paul on Wednesday, the start of a massive snowstorm that’s predicted to stretch into Thursday evening. The snow emergencies begin at 9 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023.  Follow the snow emergency parking rules below for each city to avoid being ticketed and towed.

Minneapolis

9 pm – Wednesday, Feb. 22 to 8 am Thurs., Feb. 23 (Day 1)
Do not park on either side of a Snow Emergency route until 8 a.m., or the street is fully plowed.

8 am to 8 pm – Thursday, Feb. 23 (Day 2)
Do not park on the even-numbered side of a non-Snow Emergency route until 8 pm or that side of the street is fully plowed, or on either side of a parkway until 8 pm, or the parkway is fully plowed.

8 am to 8 pm – Friday, Feb. 24 (Day 3)
Do not park on the odd-numbered side of a non-Snow Emergency route until 8 pm, or that side of the street is fully plowed.

Winter Parking Restrictions resume at the end of the three-day Snow Emergency. Parking will then be banned on the EVEN numbered side of non-Snow-Emergency routes until April 1, unless conditions allow the City to lift the ban earlier. St. Paul

Beginning at 9 pm tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 22, all Night Plow Routes will be plowed. Do not park on Night Plow Routes, which include all of downtown and streets with signs posted “Night Plow Route” and “Night Plow Route This Side of the Street.” Vehicles that are not moved from Night Plow Routes by 9 pm on Jan. 4 will be ticketed and towed.

Beginning tomorrow at 8 am on Thurs.  Feb. 23, all Day Plow Routes will be plowed. Do not park on Day Plow Routes. Day Plow Routes are not marked by signs. If there are no Night Plow signs posted within the block, then consider it a Day Plow Route. Vehicles that are not moved from Day Plow Routes by 8 am on Feb. 23 will be ticketed and towed. 

Always follow all posted street signs. Do not park vehicles where signs indicate “No Parking.” To avoid a ticket or tow, do not park in areas where streets are not plowed to the curb. To avoid a ticket or tow, do not park in areas where streets are not plowed to the curb.
