Scenes from the massive snowstorm

  • The MCTC parking ramp sits with cars parked in it. The city declared many ramps and lots as emergency snow parking. This was not one of them, but the arms into the garage were left open
  • Hennepin Avenue sits with much less traffic than usual because of the storm
  • Jim Hessian uses a snowblower to clear the sidewalk in front of some of the city businesses
  • Driving towards the city impound lot, a tow truck carries two vehicles.

  • An airplane is de-iced at the MSP Airport.
  • Crews clear snow off some of the runways at the MSP Airport.

  • George Floyd Square sits with snow covering much of it

Though the snowstorm delivered closer to 14 inches of snow in the Twin Cities, instead of the 20 inches originally forecasted, the three-day dump of snow made for many clogged streets, canceled events and flights, and impounded cars. Below, find photos of the storm’s aftermath taken on Thursday, Feb. 23.
