The junior foursome of Olivia Wren, Jaida Walker, Jayla Bennett and Cady Davis led host Minneapolis Roosevelt to a 64-49 girls’ basketball victory over St. Paul Como Park in the Twin Cities championship last Saturday afternoon.
Wren led all scorers with 20 points, Walker had 17, Bennett added 12, and Davis chipped in 11 for the Teddies, giving the Minneapolis City Conference champs their first Twin Cities title since 2010, when current head coach Tyesha Wright was the point guard.
Sharpshooter Shania Nichols VanNett had a game-high 25 points for the Cougars, who were victorious in the previous seven Twin Cities contests.
