This weekend’s slate of games in Athletes Unlimited’s (AU) fifth and final week of the 2023 season has all the makings of bringing the season to a fantastic crescendo. The 2023 AU Basketball champion will be crowned Saturday night, March 25, at Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas.
First, the leaderboard where nearly 600 points separate the top three: Odyssey Sims (#1, 5,637 points), NaLyssa Smith (#2, 5,163 points), and Naz Hillmon (#3, 4,871 points).
Sims, who leads all AU scorers with 26.8 ppg brings 20-game consecutive double-digit scoring nights in the final three games this week. She also has hit the 20-point mark 11 times this season as well.
Smith last week posted her 10th double-double effort in 12 games this season, only the second player in league history to record 10 or more double-doubles in one season.
Hillmon, who earned her fourth captain role after Week 4, put herself in third place on the leaderboard after her third game of the year with 500 or more leaderboard points last week.
Other notables:
Kelsey Mitchell broke the AU single-season record for threes—she knocked down 42 treys this season, surpassing the 39 triples made last season by MeMe Jackson. The owner of 22 career double-digit scoring games, Mitchell is fifth on the leaderboard with 4,506 points and fourth in scoring (21.9 ppg).
Theresa Plaisance has blocked at least one shot in nine consecutive games and has 19 blocks this season.
