For the past 14 years, the Southside Back in the Day Community Festival has united community members (and some out-of-towners) for what’s become a grand reunion of sorts.
This year’s festival was no exception. In line with the theme, “A Community in Pursuit of Healing, Peace, Love & Happiness,” festivalgoers defied the sweltering heat to gather on Saturday, August 2, for the cherished Labor Day Weekend event.
As in previous years, it was all love and community spirit. Phelps Park in South Minneapolis was the hot spot for music, food and merchandise vendors, award presentations, health screenings, drill teams, a boxing demonstration by Circle of Discipline, and more.
