Prepare to vote

Are you registered to vote? Take a few steps to make your voting experience as smooth as possible.โ€ฏ
1. Register to vote atโ€ฏmnvotes.gov.โ€ฏย 
Already registered? It’s still a good idea to confirm your registration is correct and up to date.โ€ฏYou will need to update your registration if youโ€™ve moved or changed your name since the last time you voted.

2. Find out which candidates and questions you’ll be voting on byโ€ฏviewing your sample ballot.
3. Choose how you want to vote.

Mailed absentee ballot

Fill out anย absentee ballot applicationย (PDF) and email or mail it to Hennepin County Elections, Government Center, 300 S. 6th St. MC-680, Minneapolis, MN 55487-680 or email at hc.vote@hennepin.us.

Early in-person

You can visit yourโ€ฏlocal elections officeโ€ฏ(check with your city or school district clerk for location and hours) to cast your ballot early and Minneapolis residents can go to Minneapolis Early Vote Center.

Election Day

Polling places are open on November 7 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check your polling place atย mnvotes.gov/pollfinder. For more info, visit hennepin.us/elections.

September 22: Absentee voting begins for the general electionโ€ฏ
October 17: General election deadline to pre-register to voteโ€ฏ
November 7: General Election Day (polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)โ€ฏ
