The fourth annual Black Business Ball is set to celebrate Black excellence and highlight the accomplishments of Black-owned businesses this Sunday, October 8.

Presented by Black Business Enterprises, the red carpet preview for the elegant event starts at 5 p.m. The ball itself begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m.

This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œA Night In Marrakesh,โ€ which will celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Moroccan city. โ€œWe want people to come in Moroccan-inspired attire, which is very colorful and vibrant. Come dressed like kings and queens, elegant and regal,โ€ said Nancy Korsah, founder of Black Business Enterprises.

โ€œWeโ€™ll have the atmosphere with a belly dancer, and Moroccan food.  We wanted to find something that would bring us a little bit of the culture to our city because we deserve it.โ€

The black-tie gala will uplift Black entrepreneurs, recognizing and presenting awards to business owners who are making a difference and making names for themselves.

โ€œWe are creating a buzz around Black-owned businesses. A lot of people are out here doing work and are killing it,โ€ Korsah explained.

โ€œPeople from the community have nominated businesses. Itโ€™s not a competition but a way to bring to the forefront what Black-owned businesses are doing in our city. We have to say our names and clap for each other.โ€

In addition to the entertainment, the chance to rub well-dressed shoulders, and some power networking, those who attend the gala will also raise funds that will contribute to grants that empower Black-owned businesses in Minnesota.

In addition to financial support, Black Business Enterprises provides access to technology, financial literacy classes, credit-building courses, and educational workshops.

Korsah stresses that the Black Business Ball welcomes people from across the community. “Allies are invited,” said Korsah. “Sometimes they might feel like they donโ€™t belong there but this is exactly where they belong. Itโ€™s their opportunity to share space with people who are elevating their community. And if they canโ€™t come they can show support by sponsoring people and donating a ticket.”

Broadcaster, podcaster, and small business owner Sheletta Brundidge, founder of ShelettaMakesMeLaugh.com, will be the host for the event.

The Black Business Ball takes place on October 8 at Quincy Hall, 1325 Quincy St. NE in Minneapolis. For more info and tickets, go to blackbusinessball.com.
