On Saturday, November 4, Sister Spokesman held a lively Homeownership event at Northpoint Health & Wellness Center at 1256 Penn Ave. N, Ste. 5100, in North Minneapolis. Saturday’s event was organized in partnership with the Minnesota Homeownership Center.
After a welcome, lunch, and some of the lively games and prizes that are always part of a Sister Spokesman event, the “Homeownership” panel discussion began, led by the magnetic Trent Bowman, a lender representative with over 20 years of experience working to bridge the lending gap with communities of color and Twin Cities banks and mortgage brokerages.
The panel discussion focused on first-time homebuyers, helping them understand the home-buying process, as well as the responsibilities that go along with being a homeowner. Kim Smith-Moore, an experienced real estate agent and broker, and Linda White, a homeownership advisor with Model Cities rounded out the panel of experts.
Adding to the local homebuying resources were vendors representing Edina Realty, Bridge Realty, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, as well as the event sponsor, Minnesota Homeownership Center. Of course, it wouldn’t be Sister Spokesman without the fabulous goods and services from small business owners who love the platform and support they get at Sister Spokesman. Among the small businesses were Unique Fashion and Accessories, Batakali Fashion Design, and Pink Pearl Bliss Yoni Steam Spa and Ice Castle Boutique.
