St. Thomas will host Wisconsin in women’s basketball on December 13 at 7 p.m. CST. The Badgers will be the second Power 5 non-conference opponent to play at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul this season.
The Tommies are led by junior guard Jade Hill (Minneapolis South). Earlier this year, the 5’7″ Minneapolis native joined the 800/100 club, the first UST player since the school joined DI to score 800 points and record 100 steals. She hopes to reach the 300-career assist milestone sometime this season as well.
Former Gopher Angelina Hammond (Hopkins, Minn.) joined the Tommies as a graduate transfer this season—it is her final year of eligibility. She played in 25 games last season in her only year at Minnesota.
The December 13 contest also will serve as the first of two regular-season homecomings this season for Wisconsin sophomore guard Ronnie Porter (St. Paul). The 5’4″ former walk-on from St. Paul Como Park is among 10 underclassmen, which ties Wisconsin with Minnesota for the most in the Big 10.
Porter thus far this season has been her team’s game leader—scoring (once), rebounding (once), assists (once), blocks (once), and steals (three). She also is among the top 10 in the Big Ten this season with steals per game (3.83).
The young Badgers also feature 6’4″ sophomore forward Serah Williams (Brooklyn, New York), who made last season’s Big Ten All-Freshman team. She leads this season in blocks and closing in 400 career points and 200 rebounds in her short career.
UW Coach Marisa Moseley is in her third season. Ruth Sinn is in her 19th season at her alma mater, in this her third Division I season.
