The Minneapolis City and St. Paul City conferences featured two boys’ basketball games that went down to the wire last week.
In Minneapolis, clutch free-throws by guards Poet Davis and James Underwood in the closing moments led the South Tigers to a 69-66 victory over the North Polars.
Across the river, guard Dhimani Tucker took the inbounds pass, raced cross court, and netted a jumper as time expired, leading the Johnson Governors to a 63-62 win over the Harding Knights.
Jumarion Weh led South with 23 points. Davis added 21. Zashon Rich’s 21 points and 13 from Jermaine Jones led the Polars.
Johnson got a team-high 17 points from Deajohn Thomas and 10 from Kenny Turner. A’Jhon Douglas and Jeremiah Bryant led Harding with 19 and 12, respectively.
It was quite the week in the Twin Cities.
