The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is hosting two community workshops in March to share design alternatives for Olson Memorial Highway. The first occurred on March 12 at Bethune Community School in North Minneapolis. The second will be Tuesday, March 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Summit Academy OIC, 935 Olson Memorial Highway in Minneapolis.
These interactive workshops are intended to gain feedback on design concepts that MnDOT has developed for a future Olson Memorial Highway. No formal presentations are planned, and MnDOT encourages the public to come and go on their own schedule within the times provided.
MnDOT is studying Olson Memorial Highway between Border Avenue and the bridge west of Thomas Avenue to understand the community’s long-term needs better and explore long-term options that benefit the surrounding community and people who use the highway. The study will use technical analysis and input from the community on its transportation needs, existing experiences, and desires for the future of Olson Memorial Highway.
This highway is an essential route for the local community and surrounding region, including those who drive, walk, bike, roll, and use public transit.
MnDOT is also inviting feedback on these alternatives in an online survey. The survey will close on Sunday, April 7.
