Bret Rogers passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2024, at the age of 62. Known for his kind heart, strong spirit, and infectious laughter, Bret had a compassionate heart, resident spirit, and joyful presence.
Bret was preceded in death by his parents, Clarissa Rogers Walker, John Medlock Jr., and Nathaniel Walker; siblings, Karon Rogers, Rebecca Medlock, and John Medlock III; uncles, the Rev. Oliver Medlock and Ronald Westberry Sr.; aunt, Mattie Westberry; and nephews Jereau Smith, Fabian Medlock, and Shae Hill-Walker.
Bret is survived by his children: Bret Rogers (Linda), Andre Bommersbach, Brysan Rogers, Jessica Ray (Logan), Asayah Rogers, and Andrue Rogers; his aunt, Jewel Medlock; his sisters, Sara Rogers Harvey (Donnie), Neva Walker, Tonia Medlock-Currin (Chucky), Phyllis Medlock-Obeng, Bershawn Medlock, and Traci Dungan (Dean); his brothers, Rock Rogers (Suzanne), Juan Rogers (Anita), Vann Rogers (Lori), Jerry Medlock (Willina), David Sheffer (Kristin), Troy Medlock (Amy), and Nathaniel Johnson; as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service honoring Bret’s life was held on Nov. 9, 2024, at Sabathani Community Center in South Minneapolis
