Minnehaha Academy entered the game seeking redemption after a December 2023 loss to St. Louis Park. This time, the Red Hawks managed to surpass their previous score of 66, but it still wasn’t enough to overcome the Orioles. The loss dropped Minnehaha’s record to 0-2 for the season.

For St. Louis Park, the victory broke a three-game road losing streak that dated back to last season. The Orioles improved to a strong 2-0 start, displaying the grit and determination that helped them secure this hard-fought win.

The Curtis Twins Spark a Comeback
The second half, however, belonged to St. Louis Park, as the Orioles unveiled their not-so-secret weapons: Marley and Micah Curtis. Standing at 6’7” and 6’8” and weighing in at 200 and 208 pounds, respectively, the Curtis twins completely shifted the game’s momentum.

With their size, athleticism, and seamless teamwork, the dynamic duo dominated the paint, grabbing rebounds, scoring in the post, and protecting the rim. Their energy fueled the Orioles’ comeback, cutting into Minnehaha’s lead possession by possession.

A Nail-Biting Finish
Despite the Red Hawks’ resilience and strategic play, the game came down to the wire. Minnehaha executed a brilliant play in the final moments to force overtime, igniting the crowd and keeping hope alive.

In overtime, however, the Curtis twins proved unstoppable, delivering key baskets and defensive stops. Dashon Amos also stepped up for the Orioles, hitting crucial shots and making hustle plays that kept the Red Hawks at bay.
