Myron was tragically shot and killed outside his south Minneapolis home on December 16. A Life Filled with Light and Laughter
Speaking through tears and smiles, Myronโs aunt, Alana Dickenson, described her nephew as โa shining lightโ with a unique ability to persevere through lifeโs challenges.
โHe always had a beautiful perspective on how to move forward,โ she shared. โHis happiness and humor were infectious. He made everyone around him laugh.โ
Myron was more than a beacon of joy; he was an eloquent speaker, devoted brother, and avid gamer with a passion for music and sports. Despite facing obstacles, he was determined to graduate high school next year and embraced life with a big heart and a sharp sense of humor.
The Tragic Incident
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting on East 25th Street around 7:15 p.m. on December 16. They found Myron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside his home. Despite attempts to save his life, Myron passed away at the scene.
As of December 23, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.
A Community in Grief
The loss of Myron has deeply affected his family and the broader Minneapolis community. In a statement provided by the Minneapolis American Indian Center, Executive Director Mary LaGarde expressed the collective sorrow over the senseless gun violence that claimed Myronโs life.
โWe grieve with the family and friends who loved Myron, and his passing is a loss to the entire community,โ LaGarde said. She also called for action to address the ongoing violence disproportionately affecting Native American communities.
A Call for Healing and Justice
In her grief, Dickenson extended a message of empathy toward the person responsible for her nephewโs death.
โIโm going to pray for you,โ she said. โI pray that justice finds you and that you can make a change in your life. This should never have happened.โ
