Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) in Minneapolis is lighting up the stage with the world premiere of Milo Imagines the World, a captivating musical based on the beloved book by Matt de la Peña and Christian Robinson. This vibrant production promises to be a visual and musical treat, offering lessons on empathy, perspective, and the power of imagination for audiences of all ages.

Set against the backdrop of a crowded subway, the story follows Milo, a young boy who uses his sketchpad to imagine the lives of his fellow passengers. Through his creative drawings, Milo discovers that first impressions often fall short of the rich complexities of real life. Along the way, he reevaluates his relationship with his older sister Adrienne, learns to appreciate her in a new light, and realizes that reality can be even more extraordinary than imagination.

A Bold and Fresh Production

This highly anticipated musical features a book by playwright Terry Guest, with lyrics by Christian Albright and music by Christian Magby. Directed by Mikael Burke, choreographed by Breon Arzell, and featuring music direction by Sanford Moore, Milo Imagines the World brings a dynamic mix of hip-hop, pop, country, and more to the stage.

The production is a joint commission by The Rose Theater in Omaha, Chicago Children’s Theatre, and Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, underscoring its wide appeal and commitment to diverse storytelling.
